MEET JACOB AND FIND OUT WHY HE LOVES HIS ROLE IN CUSTOMER SUCCESS

Jacob has been with Tempo for a year and a half now. Before Tempo he was an account manager for an advertisement tech company. With nearly three years working closely with clients he gives us his thoughts on Tempo and working in a Customer Success role… plus, a few fun facts about himself.

What attracted you to Tempo?

I hadn’t seen any other tech solution to recruitment other than the Tempo platform. I really liked the transparency between clients and candidates… Something an agency does not have. I also loved the faith they put in their staff meaning we can really grow with the company.

What do you enjoy about your role?

Dealing with a lot of people on a daily basis. I enjoy speaking to people and getting to know them, including other startups and their journeys. It’s nice to be able to help them and our candidates out. I mean, we really are the heart and soul of the business haha.

Describe your role in three words

Busy, sociable, rewarding.

What’s the best thing that has happened to you at work?

It would have to be working on the Monzo assessment centre. I really enjoyed the challenge. It kept me really busy.

What advice would you give someone looking to work in customer success?

You should put yourself in the shoes of the customer and understand things from their point of view. Getting caught up in how you see things and what you think they should be doing means you will just end up making life harder for yourself in the long run. Take a step back and understand where they are coming from, you are there to help them and make them happy.

What’s your view on flexible working?

I think it’s great. You can work around your own schedule. It’s really great to have bosses that trust you and the way you work, knowing that you will get the work done. Flexible working means you can work to your optimum productivity in the way that suits you best.

What gets you out of bed in the morning?

Money… nah just kidding. Really, it’s the people I work with. We all get along so well as a team, and it just makes work fun. I want to be there.

What could you not live without?

I need my music. I listen to music wherever I go. I like to just be able to tune out.

How do you relax after a hard day at work?

I play red dead redemption 2 on my playstation, riding my horse round the meadows and basically just turning my brain off.

What trend do you hope comes back?

Emo haircuts (love a bit of young Bieber).
