MEET SAM AND HIS VIEW ON THE WORLD OF CUSTOMER SUCCESS

Sam has been with us for just over a year now. He has a few years of experience working in the recruitment world so knows just what it’s like to work in a role where you are dedicated to your customers, ensuring their happiness. Excited to be working for a company that is looking to disrupt the recruitment industry, he shares with us his thoughts on his current role and what it takes to be in Customer Success.  

What attracted you to Tempo?

Well, after working in recruitment for a while it became really apparent to me that the current system was outdated and not working well for companies trying to hire or people trying to find a job. At the same time, I was becoming interested in AI technology and was wondering if any companies were applying it to the task of matching people up with jobs. That’s when I found Tempo and discovered their aim was to combine AI technology with a simpler, more transparent approach across the whole process. This got me very excited so I signed up to the platform, applied to a role with them and was lucky enough to start a week later!

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I enjoy how fast-paced it is and that I am constantly interacting with people, whether it’s with my team or someone looking for a new role.  Customer success within Tempo is very collaborative and team focused but it also gives you a great opportunity to learn about other industries, which I love. My role is never ever boring!

Fast-paced, collaborative, unpredictable.

What’s the best thing that has happened to you at work 

Let me think, ah yes… One of our candidates that I had spoken with wrote on our Facebook page thanking the Tempo team for all their help and, in particular, she gave me a big shout out. It sounds small but it really did make my day.

What advice would you give someone looking to work in customer success

You need to just really embrace it, and get stuck in to the fast-paced nature of it. You are there to make sure the candidates are happy and so need to have a desire to genuinely want to help people, and help them find the right role. 

What’s your view on flexible working? 

I think it’s great. It’s the way that everything is going nowadays really. We have all this technology that means we are no longer tied down to one place. For me personally, it’s really useful when I want to work somewhere a bit quieter, or even to move my hours around to fit into my personal life. The benefits it brings I think are really important for employee satisfaction and productivity. 

What gets you out of bed in the morning? 

To be honest, sounds a bit cringe, but new experiences. Every day is different at work and so I never know what’s going to happen and at the weekend, having moved to London six months ago, I like to go out and explore the city.

What could you not live without? 

Weirdly, I am a massive fan or cereal. Obviously it’s great in the mornings, but I could honestly eat it whenever.

How do you relax after a hard day at work? 

My go to would be to watch a good game of footie and just chill out on the sofa.

What trend do you hope comes back?

Pokemon for sure.
