Tempo Talks: Building Culture in the Age of Flexible Working
On Tuesday, 19th February Tempo hosted our Third instalment of ‘Tempo Talks’ around building culture in the age of flexible working.
When considering career changes or job opportunities, flexible working is increasingly a top priority amongst employees, in fact, 3rd most important according to our research. But so is culture. A strong culture not only retains and motivates employees with a sense of belonging and purpose but is also a key part of how companies market themselves to job seekers. Without a strong culture where employees are immersed in the brand ethos a brand in the 21st Century will not survive.
Our event looked at how business can they ensure their culture and business values are not jeopardized when increasingly turning to flexible workers? How can they build and conserve culture in this age of flexible working? How can they ensure employees engage with the employer brand? And with each other?
We were lucky to have a diverse set of panel speakers with representatives from Monzo, HMRC, The People Collective and The Hoxby Collective. Each company and particular speaker were at very different stages of implementing a flexible working culture; from Monzo who is founded upon flexible working values, to HMRC, an old age institution currently integrating flexible working into their working environment. With this comes different sets of challenges and viewpoints over flexible working and the impact on culture which in turn led to a fascinating evening packed with fantstic insight and discussion.
